Terms of Use
1. Who We Are
The Buzzer Lab is operated by Yiannis Konstantakopoulos, an individual based in Thessaloniki, Greece. Full contact and identity details are available in our Privacy Policy.
Throughout these Terms, "we," "us," and "our" refer to the above. "You" refers to anyone who uses our service. "Member" refers to anyone who has an active paid subscription.
2. What These Terms Cover
These Terms of Use govern your use of The Buzzer Lab, accessible at thebuzzerlab.com. By using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
These Terms work together with our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle your personal data. Both documents form the agreement between you and us.
3. What The Buzzer Lab Is
The Buzzer Lab is a design-led basketball analytics service focused on the EuroLeague. We publish educational content explaining basketball statistics and actions, freely accessible to anyone. We also offer members-only access to comprehensive player and team statistics, updated after every game, along with analytical tools for comparing players, teams, and performances across different competition phases.
Alongside these core features, we publish a blog, maintain a glossary of basketball terminology, and send a twice-weekly newsletter. The free portion of the newsletter is available to anyone who subscribes; the full version is part of membership. We may add, modify, or remove features over time as the service evolves.
4. Eligibility and Accounts
To create an account or become a member, you must be at least 18 years old.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. You may not share your account with others — each membership is for one person. If we detect account sharing or unauthorised access, we may suspend or terminate the account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating an account, and to keep it current.
You may close your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting us.
5. Membership and Payment
Membership unlocks access to the full statistical database for EuroLeague players and teams, our comparison and analytical tools, personalisation features, and any other benefits we associate with the paid tier.
Current pricing is listed on our pricing page at thebuzzerlab.com. Prices include applicable VAT.
Billing cycles
We offer monthly and annual subscription options. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle until cancelled. You will be charged at the start of each new cycle.
Payment processing
Payments are processed by Stripe. By becoming a member, you authorise us (through Stripe) to charge your chosen payment method for each billing cycle.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, we'll notify you and retry the charge. If we can't successfully charge your payment method within a reasonable period, your access to member features may be suspended until payment is resolved.
Cancellation
You can cancel your membership at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period; you'll retain member access until then, and we won't charge you for the next cycle.
Changes to pricing
If we change membership prices, the new pricing applies to new subscriptions immediately and to renewals starting from your next billing cycle. We'll notify you at least 30 days before any renewal at a new price.
6. Refund Policy
We want you to be happy with your membership.
Annual memberships
Within 14 days of your initial purchase or renewal, you can request a full refund for any reason — no questions asked, provided you have not accessed any member-only features during that period. After 14 days, we don't issue partial refunds for the current annual period, but you can cancel to prevent future renewals.
Monthly memberships
You can cancel at any time. We don't issue partial refunds for time already billed in the current month, but you won't be charged for the next month.
One-off purchases (PDF guides and similar)
Under EU consumer law, you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital content. However, if you choose to download the file immediately at checkout, you acknowledge that you waive this right with respect to that file.
Exceptional circumstances
If something genuinely went wrong — a billing error, a service outage that prevented you from using what you paid for, or any other situation where you didn't get what was promised — contact us and we'll make it right, including refunds outside the standard policy where appropriate.
To request a refund, reach us via our contact page. We process refunds through Stripe, and they typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
7. Acceptable Use
The Buzzer Lab is built with care, and we ask that you use it in good faith. Specifically:
- No scraping or automated access. You may not use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or any automated means to extract content or data from the service in bulk.
- No commercial redistribution. You may not resell, republish, syndicate, or commercially redistribute our content, data, or analytical outputs.
- No account sharing. Each membership is for one person. You may not share your login credentials or allow others to use your account.
- No bypassing of paywalls or security. You may not attempt to circumvent any access controls, paywalls, rate limits, or security measures.
- No harmful behaviour. You may not use the service to harass others, distribute malware, or engage in any activity that's illegal or that harms the service or its users.
- No AI training without permission. You may not use our content, data, or analytical outputs to train, fine-tune, or develop artificial intelligence models or large language models without our prior written permission.
- Press and journalism are welcome. Journalists and media may quote our content with clear attribution and a link back to the source. We support fair journalistic use. For substantial republication or any use beyond a quote, please contact us.
We reserve the right to investigate and respond to suspected violations, including by suspending or terminating accounts. To support this, we log member feature usage (comparisons run, favourites saved, and similar interactions) against a pseudonymous identifier. This log may be consulted when processing refund requests or investigating reports of abuse. You can view your own log via the data export on your account page.
8. Intellectual Property
Our original work
The design, layout, typography, illustrations, animations, code, written content, and editorial work on The Buzzer Lab are original creations of ours, protected by copyright. This includes our written explanations of statistics and basketball actions, our blog posts, our newsletter content, our visual presentations and charts, our information architecture, and the way we organise and present information throughout the service.
Statistical data
Game statistics — points scored, rebounds, assists, minutes played, and similar box score data — are facts that enter the public record the moment a game is played. They are not the intellectual property of any single party.
Where we go beyond the public record, we do so through our own work. The advanced and derived metrics published on The Buzzer Lab — efficiency ratings, adjusted figures, composite scores, and similar calculations — are computed by us using our own formulas and methodology. They are not sourced from any third party.
Our compilation of these statistics, the structure and organisation we impose on them, the analytical layers we build on top of them, and the tools we build around them represent substantial independent investment and constitute a protected database under EU Directive 96/9/EC and applicable copyright law.
Player, team, and league names
Names of players, teams, the EuroLeague itself, and related marks are the property of their respective owners. We reference them as a normal part of writing about basketball; we don't claim ownership of these names or marks.
What you may do
You may view and use our content for your personal, non-commercial purposes within the normal scope of the service. Journalists and media may quote our content with clear attribution and a link back to the source.
What you may not do
You may not copy, redistribute, republish, syndicate, or commercially exploit our content beyond the limited uses described above. You may not use our content to train artificial intelligence models or large language models without our prior written permission.
Your data
You retain ownership of any personal data, account preferences, saved comparisons, favourites, and similar information you create within your account. We handle this data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
9. Privacy
Our handling of your personal data is described in detail in our Privacy Policy, available at thebuzzerlab.com/privacy-policy. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
In summary: we collect only the data needed to run the service, we don't sell your data to anyone, and we work with a small number of specific service providers (Stripe for payments, Beehiiv for newsletter, Resend for transactional emails, our hosting provider, and self-hosted analytics). The Privacy Policy explains exactly what each one does and what data it receives.
10. Disclaimers and Limitations
The service is provided "as is"
We work hard to keep the service accurate, reliable, and useful, but we can't guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or perfectly current. Statistics reflect our own calculations, updated after each game. No live data service is perfectly real-time, and we can't guarantee against the occasional delay or discrepancy.
No advice for specific decisions
The Buzzer Lab is an editorial and analytical service. Nothing on the site constitutes betting advice, fantasy sports advice, professional coaching guidance, financial advice, or any other form of personalised recommendation. Any decisions you make based on our content are your own.
Events outside our control
We work to keep the service running reliably, but some disruptions are beyond what any operator can prevent. We are not liable for service interruptions, delays, or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control — including but not limited to natural disasters, power outages, internet infrastructure failures, cyberattacks, government actions, labour disputes, pandemics, war, or failures of third-party services we depend on.
When such disruptions occur, we will work to restore the service as quickly as reasonably possible and will keep you informed where appropriate.
No liability for third-party services
When we link to or integrate with third-party services (for example, payment processing, newsletter delivery, embedded media), we're not responsible for those services' availability, accuracy, or policies.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Greek and EU law, our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
11. Termination
By you
You can close your account at any time through your settings or by contacting us.
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if your account is involved in fraud or abuse, or if we're required to do so by law. In most cases we'll give you notice and an opportunity to respond before terminating, but we may act immediately for serious violations.
Service discontinuation
In circumstances that make continuing the service impossible — such as unrecoverable technical failures or personal circumstances affecting the operator — the service may close with limited or no notice at all, and we cannot be held liable for losses or inconvenience arising from such closure. This does not affect any statutory rights you hold under applicable EU consumer protection law.
Effect of termination
When an account closes, you lose access to member features. We retain certain data after closure as described in our Privacy Policy — primarily billing records (required by Greek tax law for seven years) and limited account information for a short period in case you wish to reactivate.
Termination doesn't affect any rights or obligations that have already accrued, including your right to a refund if you're within the eligible window.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes to the service, new features, legal requirements, or operational improvements.
When we make material changes, we'll notify you in one or more of the following ways: by email to the address associated with your account, by a notice on the website, or by a notice in our newsletter. The notice will explain what's changing and when it takes effect.
For non-material changes (typos, clarifications, minor wording), we'll update the document and revise the effective date without separate notice.
If you don't agree with material changes, you can close your account before the new terms take effect.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Greece, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Thessaloniki, Greece — except where mandatory EU consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
EU consumers have the right to use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr, though we hope you'll contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue directly.
14. Other
Entire agreement. These Terms (together with the Privacy Policy and any pricing information on the site) make up the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remains in effect.
No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision of these Terms in a particular case, that doesn't mean we waive the right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours if we restructure our business or transfer the service to another operator, in which case we'll let you know.
