Fenerbahce won 64-61 at Olympiacos, the lowest-scoring game of the season.
Olympiacos had scored 102 at Valencia and 105 at Barcelona in the fortnight before this. Here they managed 61, their lowest of the season. They gave the ball away 13 times to Fenerbahce's 8, and Fenerbahce made 10 threes to 7. Nothing else separated them.
Fenerbahce and Panathinaikos now share first place at 6-1. Fenerbahce got there by beating the champions in their own gym.
Real Madrid have won four in a row
Nobody else in the EuroLeague has won their last four.
Real Madrid started the season 0-3 and have not lost since. The latest was 113-99 at Maccabi, built on 21 threes from 40 attempts, 52% from a team that was 0-3 three weeks ago. They are 4-3 with a points difference of plus 37, which is better than four of the six clubs above them.
Three teams are on three straight: Fenerbahce, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Dubai. Hapoel beat Virtus 90-81, shooting 51% effective from the field to 42%. Dubai won 107-91 at Bayern with 7 turnovers in the whole game, which is the sort of number you see once a month.
Valencia keep going
Valencia won 104-93 at Paris and are 5-2.
They made 18 free throws to 7. That is the third time this season they have won the free-throw count by double figures, after Baskonia and ASVEL. The club that was supposed to be a mid-table side is third, and the only two teams above them have one loss between them.
The rest of the round
Zalgiris made 18 threes against ASVEL and won by 20. Barcelona took 17 offensive rebounds to Milan's 11 and won by 8. Partizan edged Crvena Zvezda 85-82 in the Belgrade derby by shooting 68% on twos. Anadolu Efes beat Besiktas, Panathinaikos beat Baskonia 85-79 in a game that was even almost everywhere.
That last one is worth a note. Panathinaikos are 6-1 and plus 96 on the season, and they have now won two in a row by single digits against teams in the bottom five. Nobody has beaten them twice, but the margins have stopped being comfortable.
The table after seven
Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce lead at 6-1. Valencia, Olympiacos, Hapoel and Dubai are all 5-2. Then a block of four at 4-3, including Real Madrid.
At the other end, Baskonia and Milan are 1-6 with point differences past minus 60, and Paris are 1-6 as well.
Every result is on the Round 7 page, the full standings have the rest, and if you want to know which players are carrying more than they did a year ago, Better or Worse? has every one of them.
Round 8 is played on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the fixture to find is Valencia against Fenerbahce in Valencia: third against joint-first, and the first real test of whether Valencia belong where the table says they do.
