Head coach · Besiktas Istanbul · Serbia · 40 years old
Serbia's national coach, and Besiktas' ticket back to the EuroLeague.
Dusan Alimpijevic turned to coaching young, after an accident ended his playing path, and rose fast through Serbian basketball.
He coached Crvena Zvezda in his early thirties, then built competitive teams on limited resources at Bursaspor and Besiktas, and now leads Serbia's national team too.
Ambitious, energetic, driven. He thinks several steps ahead and is comfortable taking risks.
He also cares a lot about staff culture, and talks about chemistry among coaches and a unified working environment. Young by EuroLeague standards, but he already carries real authority.
Aggressive, fast, role-oriented. He likes young, athletic players and expects them to work inside a clearly defined system.
Rather than chasing famous names, he finds players who fit roles and maximizes them. His gift is making a team look better than the sum of its parts, which is exactly what Besiktas needed.
