The greatest French player of all time, now on his own club's bench.
Tony Parker needs little introduction. Four NBA titles, six All-Star games, a Hall of Fame career built mostly at San Antonio.
He has owned and run ASVEL for years. In 2026 he made the surprising call to step onto the bench himself. It is his first real head-coaching job.
Competitive, confident, shaped by the Spurs culture he grew up in. He knows elite basketball from the inside and has natural credibility with players.
The risk is just as clear. Being a great player does not make you a coach. He has to learn to lead from the bench, a different job entirely.
Too early to pin down a real coaching identity. Expect guard-oriented, fast, decision-based basketball, with spacing and ball movement from the Spurs school.
His partnership with Vincent Collet, brought in as offensive coordinator, is the thing to watch. Treat his first season as the start of a coaching education, not the finished product.
