Paolo Galbiati
Head coach · Kosner Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz · Italy · 42 years old
A fast-rising Italian who won the Copa del Rey with Baskonia as an underdog.
Paolo Galbiati came up through Italian basketball, from Torino and Cremona to a breakthrough at Trento. His work there earned him the Baskonia job.
He produced an impressive first EuroLeague season in 2025-26 and stays in charge for 2026-27, one of Italy's brightest coaching talents.
Modern and curious. He talks openly about studying the NBA and about the coaches who shaped him, and he is comfortable mixing discipline with freedom.
Players describe someone who hands them responsibility, but inside clear boundaries.
Fast, flexible, intelligent. Multiple ball-handlers, quick decisions, transition offense and constant movement.
His real trait is adaptability. He gives talented players room while demanding defensive intensity and physical commitment. One Spanish paper called it a mix of discipline, strategy and freedom, which fits. He teaches players what they can do rather than micromanaging each possession.
